And although I spent many years on the stage, and even at a performing arts high school (Fame anyone?), it wasn't until several years into adulthood when I purchased my first digital camera. To be honest, I got it to document my travels around the world. But then one day I was asked if I would document a friend's wedding because I took "pretty pictures." I'm not sure what compelled me to say yes, but it was like a lightbulb went off. I was OBSESSED. I finally had an excuse to EAT CAKE on a regular basis. Tresino's, a family owned and operated business, originated three generations ago in St. Louis, MO. in a predominately Italian community called "The Hill". It was in the basement of Nana Giovannina Mazzocchio's modest shotgun-style home that she perfected her family recipes. She even furnished many surrounding gourmet Italian restaurants with her well-loved homemade pastas. Nana Giovannina owned and operated her first restaurant in 1964. Her restaurant was very popular and frequented by many celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Ginger Rogers, and Betty Grable to name a few. In 1982 her son, Lorenzo Mazzocchio, wife Sheryl, along with their nephew, opened Pasta House Ferrantelli in San Juan Capistrano, preparing the same generational recipes along with those he developed himself. In 1986 he moved his small twelve table restaurant into the Dana Point Marina and Ristorante Ferrantelli became one of the most popular four star fine dining Italian restaurants in Orange County. In 1991 they opened Mangia Bene Ristorante in Laguna Niguel, making this restaurant one that would cater to the casual Southern California lifestyle. Now Nana Giovannina's grandchildren, Gino and Theresa, son and daughter to Lorenzo and Sheryl, are bringing to the Inland Empire that same fresh Italian food experience! In May of 2006, Mike and Debbie, the owner-operators of Temecula Valley Cable Car Wine Tours had purchased a motorized 1914 San Francisco cable car. Debbie was reluctant of the purchase because of the shape it was in, but Mike could visualize a restored cable car running through Temecula and he couldn’t wait to restore the car to its former glory! It took over two years to refurbish and fully-restore the cable car to its original conditions, but with a lot of patience, sandpaper, paint, and mechanical parts, the cable car was restored and set off to cruise through the beautiful Temecula wine country. Our San Francisco cable car is the only historical moving monument left in the United States, and even though the cable car is motorized, passengers will experience the feel and essence of San Francisco as they experience Temecula Valley wine country!
