Allan Cantor opened the first Cantor’s Driving School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1976. This father of four was a History Teacher and Disciplinarian at Overbrook High School in West Philadelphia. He began teaching students how to drive part-time and on the weekends. Soon, he had taught nearly every teen in the area how to drive. Allan was the best driving instructor around. He was known for his jovial personality and relatability with his students. A stop off to grab a famous Philadelphia cheesesteak during a lesson was not out of the question – and something his students loved about him. Of course it was the 1970s and times were different then, but Cantor’s Driving School has always been about Family, Community, and Safety. As years went by, Cantor’s Driving School grew into the neighboring Philadelphia suburbs. And as his children grew, his youngest son Frank joined the family business. Learning the ins-and-outs of being a great driving instructor from his father, Frank was able to expand Cantor’s Driving School into 5 states – Pennsylvania, Florida, Nevada, Arizona, and California. Hi, we are Toasted Tours, previous Toasted Corks! Actually we are just Kevin & Kayla, but Toasted Tours is our thing. We have been married for 13 years, have 3 kids, and have lived in Temecula since 2017. I (Kevin) will speak for Kayla since she isn’t here to defend herself and she doesn’t manage the website, so I can write whatever I want 😘. Kayla is a walking representation of all that makes life sweet. She is a very authentic person and wears her heart on her sleeve. Her poker face is for the birds. She is so real. Warm and loving and beautiful in so many ways, she loves to connect with people and can take about 30 minutes (or .78 glasses of Sauv Blanc) to let her guard down, but when she does she lights up a room the way she lights up my life. I love her forever. A few months pre-Covid I asked for her support to take a different direction in our lives and she has stuck by me, though I have tested her far past the bounds of prudence. Kayla manages our inquiries, social media, general admin, and anything she damn well sees fit (speaking of which, I promise I’m getting to the benches babe). She is the host on Semi Toasted tours, so if we are lucky enough to earn your business you will know her well. Kayla, thank you for filling my life with the endless joy of you. Concerning the other member of the Toasted Corks team (me), I’ll describe him as… a profound pain in the you-know-what. No sugarcoat. Stubborn as a retirement age mule, gleefully nonconformist, he is compulsively trying to reinvent the wheel when the wheels we have are just fine. That may be a tad harsh… I’m not all bad. I do love to innovate and when I have an idea that lights the fires of inspiration, I get going and press on until I see it through. Thus an 18 wheeler trailer project that was sheer brutality. I drive the trailer bus, manage the executive aspects of the business, act as the sole grease monkey, and try to make it look like I know what I’m doing. The trailer bus was an idea I had to take an extremely developed, hyper practical logistics platform and tweak if for my purposes to transport people. It gives me redundancy against mechanical failures, flexibility for emissions regulations in CA, in my opinion actually contributes to passenger safety, and ends up being pretty neat for wine tours if I may say so myself. We love Temecula. We are blessed to make a living soaking up the little things that make it lovely, like our hot summer days in the vineyards with a chilled Pinot Grigio, the smell of rich earth on that consistent late afternoon breeze, and the laughter of happy, social people bubbling up around us. We think of Toasted Corks as a reflection of our personal values. What matters to us is spending time with our loved ones, working on unusual projects that we find intriguing, making friends, and participating in a community that cares for its members. Dr. Wes Youngberg is a practicing clinical nutritionist and lifestyle medicine specialist in Temecula, CA. He was trained at Loma Linda University where he earned a doctorate in clinical preventive care and a master’s degree in nutrition. He is on the clinical faculty of Loma Linda University and serves as assistant clinical professor for both the Department of Preventive Medicine at the School of Medicine and the Department of Health Promotion at the School of Public Health. Dr. Youngberg is a board Certified Nutrition Specialist, and is a founding director and fellow of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Dr. Youngberg is the lead presenter in the Diabetes Undone Program – an interactive, video based series designed to support the doctor and the patient in achieving diabetes reversal. He has trained with Dr. Dale Bredesen (the director of the Center for Alzheimer’s Disease Research at UCLA) and is certified in the Bredesen Protocol – a comprehensive, lifestyle medicine based, assessment and intervention model, documented to reverse up to 88% of MCI and early Alzheimer’s. Currently, Dr. Youngberg is conducting 4-Day Bredesen Protocol Intensives at resorts in San Diego and Laguna Beach. Prior to opening his lifestyle and nutritional medicine clinic in Temecula, Dr. Youngberg spent 14 years on the island of Guam, researching the diabetes epidemic on the Micronesian islands of the Western Pacific region and directing the Wellness Center at the Guam Seventh-day Adventist Clinic. He traveled throughout the islands, providing public health education, screenings, and professional training for diabetes prevention and care. Dr. Youngberg was honored twice with the Heroes of the Pacific award by the Guam chapter of the American Diabetes Association. In 2007, he was awarded the Ancient Order of the Chamorri—the highest honor given by the governor of Guam for extraordinary contributions to the island community. Returning to California in 2008, he spent three years as medical nutritionist and Director of the Lifestyle Medicine Clinic and Wellness Center for Rancho Family Medical Group in Temecula. He has lectured to medical conferences throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas. His passion is the full integration of physical and emotional risk factors in the assessment and intervention of health concerns. Dr. Youngberg has done post doctoral studies with the Institute for Functional Medicine and the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine. He is the co-host of the Hope Channel’s “Naturally Gourmet” with Karen Houghton, and has produced various DVD video series, including: “Transforming Sickness into Health” and “Controlling Cravings with Contentment”. He has published several books including, The Path to Health & Healing, Goodbye Diabetes – preventing and reversing diabetes the natural way, and most recently, Hello Healthy.
